Malle’s primary research areas focus on rural engineering education and how rural students access engineering pathways, and community engagement to address wicked problems through collaboration and systems thinking.

Dr. Fefferman is Director of the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences and of the NSF Center for Analysis and Prediction of Pandemic Expansion. Her research focuses on modeling complex systems in the life sciences.
