Steven Hoffman is an immunologist, neuroscientist and philosopher who has studied how the immune system and brain interact, and currently is integrating this work into philosophical perspectives.

My current work is creating a peripheral neuron synaptogenesis model in order to better examine the mechanisms of Herpes Simplex Virus exocytosis from synapses.

The Barthel lab examines cancer genome evolution in model systems and patient tumors. Currently seeking a computationally inclined graduate student to work on projects in cancer genome assembly and long-read sequencing.
