Sullivan's research agenda includes historical publications pertaining to 19th and 20th Century women's bands and quantitative preservice and inservice music teacher investigations.

Schmidt’s research focuses on preservice and beginning teachers, and teachers and students in underserved schools.

Before coming to ASU, Schwartz taught band and general music in the Mesa Public School district where she also worked on curriculum design and technology in the band classroom.

Stauffer's scholarly interests include children, music, place, and narrative.
