Bate is an international leader in green thinking and applied humanities, with scholarly expertise in sustainability as well as in Shakespeare, life-writing, Romanticism, contemporary poetry, theatre, and visual culture.

Ach teaches courses in literature, film, and interdisciplinary studies, and her research often combines insights from literary studies, the desert humanities, and land management history.

Dr. Litchfield's teaching focus is first-year writing and creative writing. Her interests include American Literature, trauma studies, feminist memoir, and writing pedagogy.
