With Master's degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering, worked in Semiconductor Circuit Design for many years before a late career switch to Astrophysics.

Sanchez Esqueda's research focus is the development of electronic technologies through the exploration of novel nanoscale materials and device functionalities for computing, memory and sensing applications.

James is a Professor of Practice in the ECEE department. James spent most of his 40 year career in semiconductors including co-founding Cactus Semiconductor. James joined ASU in Fall 2022.
