Originally from Colorado, April has 20+ years of teaching and team leadership in second language learning contexts around the United States and Thailand. With a Masters in TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages) from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont, April brings together collaboration skills and face-to-face teaching knowledge to support administrators, teachers and students and has done so in university intensive English programs and entrepreneurial language institutes in Arizona, Colorado and Georgia. Four years living internationally in Thailand included 2 years Peace Corps service in the rural northeastern Essarn.
As an instructor, April teaches concentrated four skills courses as well as ESP (English for Specific Purposes) courses in life skills, business, airline hospitality, humanities and communication at the Undergraduate and Graduate level. Targeted curriculum development with teams of colleagues highlights April’s responsibilities while teaching at ASU for the last 14 years.
As a leader, April has has served as a supervisor and project manager at Global Launch which is an academic services unit at ASU serving the needs of English learners. She has managed special programs with groups from Mexico and Japan; directed teams of teachers to meet contract expectations; designed custom curriculum for online courses and has been a team player in different capacities to meet the needs of the program. She lives in Gilbert with her family.
