Björg LeSueur is a Clinical Associate Professor at Arizona State University, specializing in Early Childhood and Special Education. With over two decades of experience, she has dedicated her career to supporting young children with disabilities and their families through inclusive, evidence-informed practices and workforce development.
Björg’s career began in the classroom, where she served as an infant and toddler teacher, special education preschool teacher, and preschool coordinator for special education services. These roles grounded her expertise in developmental practices and deepened her commitment to inclusive, relationship-based learning environments that honor the individual needs of every child.
In 2012, she joined Arizona State University as Research Faculty, mentoring in-service educators as part of a federally funded research project evaluating literacy and language curricula for children receiving special education services. Two years later, she became the Assistant Director of the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College (MLFTC) preschool, where she led inclusive practices for children with disabilities, provided clinical supervision to pre-service teachers, and designed and delivered targeted professional development for early childhood staff, including embedded coaching and classroom modeling of early intervention strategies.
Currently, Björg serves as the program coordinator for ASU’s fully online Early Childhood Studies degrees. She also teaches in the Educational Studies program, where she integrates real-world experience with research-informed content to prepare the next generation of early childhood professionals. In addition to her teaching and leadership roles, Björg remains actively involved in professional development efforts statewide, mentoring and coaching early childhood educators across Arizona. Her work prioritizes practical, context-responsive strategies to support instruction, inclusion, and equity in birth-to-five settings.
Her areas of expertise include infant mental health, early intervention, special education, inclusive practices, collaborative team models, teacher-child interactions, embedded instruction, and reflective practice. A respected voice in the field, Björg is known for her ability to bridge research and practice to drive meaningful, systems-level change. Her work continues to shape the preparation and ongoing development of the early childhood workforce, centering children with disabilities and their families at the heart of inclusive education.
