Björg LeSueur is a Clinical Associate Professor specializing in Early Childhood and Special Education.
With over 20 years of experience in the field, Björg has dedicated her career to working with and advocating for young children with disabilities and their families. Her diverse experience includes serving as an infant and preschool teacher, a special education preschool teacher, and a preschool coordinator for special education services. In these roles, she developed a deep understanding of the unique needs of young children and the importance of inclusive practices.
In 2012, Björg joined ASU as a Research Faculty, where she mentored in-service teachers participating in a research project focused on the efficacy of literacy and language-based curricula for special education students. In 2014, she became the Assistant Director of ASU's Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College (MLFTC) preschool, where she supported the inclusion of children with disabilities. In this capacity, she provided clinical supervision for pre-service teachers in the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Preparation program and offered professional development for the preschool staff, including workshops, coaching, and in-class modeling of early intervention strategies.
Currently, Björg is the program coordinator of the online Early Childhood Studies degrees. She also teaches in the online Educational Studies and Early Childhood Studies programs at MLFTC. She is deeply committed to the professional development of the early childhood education and early intervention workforce. She continues to work closely with in-service early childhood education teachers in Arizona, providing mentoring, coaching, and professional development tailored to enhancing instructional practices for young children.
Her interests span early childhood, special education, early intervention, inclusion, collaborative practices, teacher-child interactions, embedded interventions, and reflective practice. Björg's extensive knowledge and hands-on experience, combined with her dedication to advancing the field of early childhood special education, position her as a leading advocate and expert dedicated to improving outcomes for young children with disabilities and their families.
