Becky Thornton is the Assistant to the Director in the Physics Department at ASU. She has over 25 years of experience supporting student success, staff development, and institutional growth. Her career spans classroom teaching, outreach coordination, and organizational leadership, giving her a well-rounded perspective on how educational systems can promote engagement and excellence at every level.
Becky holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, along with a K–12 Teaching Certificate. This combination of academic preparation and practical experience enables her to approach her work with a strong understanding of both student and faculty development and effective leadership practices.
In her previous leadership roles, Becky supervised teams of educators and support staff, conducted employee evaluations, and implemented individualized professional development plans. She is passionate about coaching and mentoring staff to build capacity, strengthen communication, and align goals with institutional priorities.
Her expertise includes fostering positive campus cultures, leading restorative practice workshops, and guiding teams through strategic planning and change management. Becky has also designed and managed student support initiatives, technology rollouts, and community engagement programs.
