Education
Ph.D. Michigan State University
Graduate degree. Business and Engineering, Dresden University of Technology, Germany
Master's degree. Business Logistics Engineering, The Ohio State University
Dr. Wiedmer's research investigates how to structurally characterize complexsupply networks and how the micro- and macro-structures of supply networks influence a firm’s ability to mitigateturbulent environments. Since the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, managers and policymakers have understood the need to better describe the structure of supply networks to identify, anticipate, and mitigate potential vulnerabilities. At the same time, these stakeholders must navigate turbulent environments, caused by threats like climate change, wars, tariffs, and social unrest. The goal of his research is to provide practical insights to managers and policymakers, guiding them to create robust supply networks that can effectively navigate turbulent environments. Dr. Wiedmer’s main areas of interest are:
Supply chain network design
Buyer-supplier relationships
The role of supply network structures in times of external risks, such as tariffs, resource scarcity, policy changes, and disruptions
