Long Bio
Dulce Vasquez is the Asst. Vice President of Strategic Advancement in the Office of University Affairs at Arizona State University. As an educator and university administrator, she is responsible for developing strategic university-wide partnerships, furthering university initiatives, managing special projects, and expanding ASU’s presence in Los Angeles. Her work is driven by ASU’s charter as a public research university to be inclusive and to take responsibility for the economic, social, cultural, and overall health of the communities it serves.
She was previously the Managing Director of Zócalo Public Square, an ASU affiliate. She ran Zócalo’s programming, finances, strategic partnerships, development, and human resources for eight years. Born in Tampico, Mexico, she's lived all over the country, but has called LA home for the last 16 years— 10 in Downtown Los Angeles. After spending half of her childhood undocumented, she attended Northwestern University, The Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), and earned a Master’s in Public Policy from the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs.
In 2022, she ran for Los Angeles City Council and in 2024 she ran for California State Assembly, which gave her a platform to champion dozens of issues she cares deeply about, including housing, public transportation, support for small businesses, education, and LGBT+ & women's rights. She lives in South Los Angeles with her spouse and two dogs and enjoys running, snowboarding, and traveling.
She works out of the ASU California Center- Broadway in Los Angeles.
