Shana Ellis, MPA, has 25+ years’ experience in non-profit management in the areas of homelessness and housing, aging, disabilities, fundraising, and incubation of new programs. She currently is Executive Director of ASU’s Action Nexus on Homelessness and Housing, based in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions. The Action Nexus connects efforts across siloed systems in Maricopa County in order to improve service delivery and maximize effectiveness, bringing ASU resources to bear in the pursuit of lasting solutions to end homelessness. Prior work includes serving as a Vice President of Programs at the Area Agency on Aging, and President/CEO of The Centers for Habilitation.
Shana holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems/Business and a Master of Public Administration, both from Arizona State University. She has served on many non-profit boards that focus on youth, transportation, disabilities, leadership, aging and homeless. Additionally, Shana served 8 years on the Tempe City Council, with 2 years serving as Vice Mayor. She is a graduate of Valley Leadership, has received the Don Carlos Humanitarian Award for community service, and was honored by the Phoenix Business Journal as an Outstanding Woman in Business.
Shana is a native Tempean, and currently serves on the Tempe Police Foundation Board, the Solari Advisory Committee, and the Tempe Community Action Agency Campaign Cabinet.
