I am a sociologist with expertise in fair and alternative trade movements and systems. My work unpacks the forces of globalization and development on rural communities as well as their involvement in local food and fair trade movements. More recently, I have begun examining alternatives to energy, and I am interested in the broader question of food, energy, and water sovereignty. I am skilled in the use of participatory action research (PAR) methods that open room for collaborative knowledge building.
