As the Managing Director of Creative Strategy, Lindsay Kinkade leads a team of creatives making storytelling materials showcasing the excellence, innovation and impact of ASU. In her role, she brings innovative experimental design strategies and startup business skills to the development of enterprise-level solutions. Building prototypes, templates, tools and large-scale campaigns, Kinkade and her team design award-winning projects that strengthen the visual brand of ASU.
Lindsay also leads the editorial and creative direction, development and production of ASU Thrive magazine, working with units across ASU's network to bring excellent content to ASU's 550k+ alumni audience.
Prior to joining the team, Kinkade worked as an experimental urbanist, cultural strategist, community-based leader, facilitator, designer, public artist and teacher. In Phoenix, she founded Design RePublic, a design studio working locally and nationally to support public dialogue on the future of cities. A high point in her career was the collaborative redesign of the Downtown Phoenix Inc. logo in a storefront community engagement lab, where she led the brainstorming and iterative process. The resulting identity system is in use on the streets of downtown and on DTPHX.org.
For seven years, she previously worked with top news editors and designed the front page of The Boston Globe. She was a designer on the local news team that won the Pulitzer prize in 2003 for the reporting on the systemic cover-up of child abuse by the Catholic Church in Boston.
She has worked as a designer in the newsrooms of The Boston Globe, The Oregonian, The News & Observer (Raleigh) and The Charlotte Observer.
