Long Bio

Andrew Ozga is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Center for Evolution & Medicine. He earned his BA in Anthropology at Marquette University in 2007 and his MA at Ball State University in 2009. He earned his PhD at the University of Oklahoma in 2015 for his dissertation on Viral Metagenomics and Anthropology in the Americas. During his time in Oklahoma, he worked as a research scientist at the Laboratories of Molecular Anthropology and Microbiome Research on the OU campus and taught as an adjunct biology, nutrition, and anatomy professor at Oklahoma City Community College for six years. His research interests include ancient DNA, microbiomes, viromes, primate genetics, osteology, human health and biology, and the origins of human disease. In his spare time he enjoys rock climbing, hiking, attending concerts, and playing guitar.
