Alison Sutton-Ryan is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Arizona State University and a graduate of the ASU DBH program.
Her previous teaching experience includes working as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Social Work at Salisbury University where she completed an Interprofessional Education and Practice Fellowship and received the 2023 Interprofessional Education Teaching Award. She was previously a Clinical Professor at University of Arizona Department of Psychiatry and a Faculty Associate at ASU School of Social Work.
Dr. Sutton-Ryan clinical experience includes work as the prior Director of Mental Health Services for the College of Medicine, Health Sciences, and College of Veterinary Medicine at University of Arizona.
She received her master's degree in social work from Smith College School for Social Work and her bachelor's degree in social work from James Madison University. She has worked in the field of addictions and recovery for more than 20 years as a therapist, program manager and consultant. She has been in private practice for more 18 years with a speciality in perinatal mood disorders, addictions and recovery, and mental health of medical professionals.
Dr. Sutton-Ryan's research has focused on inclusion of lived experiences to improve mental health outcomes and program design.
