Mark Hass is an educator, author and former global marketing executive who is now a professor of practice and a member of the Barrett Honors faculty at the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, where he specializes in strategic communications and marketing leadership.
He is a frequent speaker on topics related to corporate social activism and executive reputation, digital storytelling, internet privacy, and data as a marketing tool, and has more than three decades of experience as a journalist, entrepreneur and marketing professional.
Prior to assuming his current roles, he was President and CEO of Edelman U.S., responsible for the operations and performance of the largest business unit of the world’s premiere public relations / integrated marketing agency and its 2,400 U.S. employees. His earlier career included positions as CEO Edelman China; CEO of MS&L Worldwide, the global public relations firm of the Paris-based Publicis Groupe; founder and CEO of two digital marketing agencies acquired by industry holding companies; and writer and editor at daily newspapers in Syracuse, Miami and Detroit, where his staff won a Pulitzer Prize.
He has provided senior counsel to a broad range of companies in China, Europe and the U.S., including Volkswagen, Nissan, GM, Toyota, United Airlines, Kellogg’s, Fannie Mae, ADM, Starbucks, Oracle, Hewlett-Packard, Hilton and Wrigley.
He is also most recently the author of The Days Before Tomorrow, a debut novel published in 2024.
