Christiane Reves is Assistant Teaching Professor and lower division coordinator in the German program at the School of International Letters and Cultures at Arizona State University. She received her doctorate in modern and contemporary European history from the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Würzburg, Germany in 2005. She also holds a combined master's and bachelor's in German, history and pedagogy from the Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (1. Staatsexamen, 1998). Her teaching and research brought her to Germany, France, Italy, Israel and the United States. She taught German and history classes at Drew University, Madison, NY and Nyack College, Nyack, NY. Her primary research interests are migration, networks and culture transfer. Reves has published on migration and networks of Italian merchants in the 17th and 18th century. Her interest goes beyond modern history. She also engages in research on Jewish networks and cultural transfer in the early 20th century. Reves was also actively involved in politics. From 2001-2006, she worked in public relations for a congresswoman and State Minister for Migration and Integration, Maria Boehmer, in Berlin, Germany.
