Carol McNamara is a scholar of politics and literature, and a founder and leader of civic-minded academic organizations. She is currently the director of the Great Hearts Institute for Classical Education. Previously, she was the associate director at the School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership and senior director for the Center for Constitutional Design at Arizona State University. She founded and led institutes of politics and public service at two Utah universities. Dr. McNamara holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto and a PhD in Politics from Boston College. Her academic teaching and publishing address Shakespeare's politics, ancient Greek political philosophy, Civic thought, and the work of American author, Tom Wolfe.
