Asri Nurul Qodri is from Indonesia and has been teaching English since 2003. In 2005, she completed a Bachelor's degree in Arabic Literature with a minor in Linguistics. From 2009 to 2012, she obtained the CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults), YL (Young Learners) Extension to CELTA, and DELTA (Diploma of English Language Teaching to Adults) through Cambridge University ESOL Examinations. She worked at the British Council in Kyiv, Ukraine, until 2015 and decided to return to academia to explore the world of teaching and learning further. In May 2018, she attained a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics with a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate at Ohio University. She taught a wide range of international students at the Ohio Program of Intensive English (OPIE).
Asri also does some work in the field of translations - one of the major projects involved translating an English play written by Ray Harding (Charles Sturt University) and published in Australia; and a series of Indonesian comic books to be published in the USA. As an experienced teacher, she has been involved in multiple teacher training programs as a course tutor, instructor, mentor, and material creator, including the first-ever Teaching Young Learners Extension Certificate (by Trinity College) course at British Council Kyiv. She was also a part of a writing team for the British Council's MyClass learning system run in three teaching centers in Europe and a material writer for an online teacher training course developed by Ohio University in collaboration with Cyber Hankuk University in South Korea. She was involved in the Thousand Languages Project as a graduate intern, translating English pieces from the Hayden Ferry Review journals to Indonesian. She completed a Ph.D. in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics and successfully defended her dissertation in March 2023. During the Ph.D. program, she worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of English at Arizona State University, teaching First-year Composition courses in various modalities. She currently works as an Associate Global Educator at ASU's Intensive English Program, Global Launch.
