Kevin Ellsworth

Dr. Kevin Ellsworth serves on ASU’s Faculty of Organizational Leadership, an innovative community of faculty and staff who provide an extraordinary education to an extraordinarily diverse and inclusive student body. We serve graduate and undergraduate programs on three Phoenix Valley campuses, online, with partners throughout Arizona, and in programs throughout the world. We collaborate with community colleges, government, non-profit and private organizations to extend educational opportunities to everyone everywhere.

Professor Ellsworth was asked in 2003 to lead the five-year-old program consisting of twelve dedicated faculty. In the following six years, they created the nation's largest and most innovative interdisciplinary studies program. They launched ASU's first online degree, the first degree at ASU Downtown (precursor to ASU’s Downtown Phoenix Campus) and ASU's School of Interdisciplinary Studies (later renamed the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts). Their academic program external review in 2007 declared that it was among the five best interdisciplinary studies degree programs in the country.

Professor Ellsworth was again asked to lead the faculty from March 2014 until May 2022, during which time we established 14 new graduate and undergraduate academic programs including ASU’s first associate’s degree. We graduated 10,015 students with bachelor’s and master’s degrees. We increased instruction from 18,968 SCH in 2014 to 69,031 SCH in 2021. We created many successful study abroad programs, including ASU's first "Global Intensive Experiences" in the winter and spring breaks. We offered baccalaureate degrees in partnerships at Eastern Arizona College (ASU@TheGilaValley), Western Arizona College (ASU@Yuma), Yavapai College (ASU@Yavapai), Pima Community College (ASU@Pima), Cochise College (ASU@Cochise), and Central Arizona College (ASU@Pinal). We created and offered extensive non-credit upskilling courses including certificates in project management, agile project management and leadership skills.
