My independent program of research aims to improve health systems and organizational structures for the overall health and well-being of communities. I apply a life-course approach and use supportive care concepts and critical institutional theories to ground my research and increase the impact of my work in practice. I focus on three research aims: 1) collaborating with care recipients, their families, and interdisciplinary experts to design, implement, and evaluate innovative approaches to care (e.g., community-based interventions); 2) understand factors that influence variation across care settings and the implications that these variations can have on the health and well-being of care dyads and communities; and, 3) assess the role that politics can play on a government’s ability to effectively support collaboration across the care continuum and promote best practices for health system design.
