Oluseyi Matthew Odebiyi, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of elementary and social studies education in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. His work focuses on the development and implementation of teacher candidates’ capacity for designing inquiry-oriented teaching and teachers' thinking as they learn to teach across cultural contexts.
Dr. Odebiyi’s teaching experience spans years and contexts such as Nigeria and the USA. He has published in journals such as the Journal of Social Studies Research; Education, Citizenship and Social Justice; and Teaching Education.
Dr. Odebiyi serves on the editorial board of the journal Urban Review as an editorial manager and a member of the Board of Reviewers for the journal Social Studies Research and Practice. He is a series editor for Research on Education in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East and co-editor of Transforming Public Education in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East (Information Age Publishing, 2019) Effects of Government Mandates and Policies on Public Education in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East (Information Age Publishing, 2022) and the forthcoming books, The Bloomsbury Handbook on Caribbean and African Studies in Education (Bloomsbury, 2024) and The Education of Minorities in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East (Information Age, 2024).
