Anthony Barley is an assistant professor in the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences and New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. Barley grew up in California and received his bachelor's degree in biological science from California State University, Sacramento. He received a doctorate in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Kansas. After graduating, he went on to do postdoctoral research at the University of Hawaii where he was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation. He also worked as an assistant project scientist at the University of California, Davis, before joining the faculty at ASU in 2022. Barley is interested in evolutionary and conservation biology and works primarily on reptiles and amphibians in the Southwestern U.S, Southeast Asia, and Mexico.
