Dr. Dylan Richard (they/them), Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr. Richard received their PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2021 after completing a predoctoral internship at the Phoenix VA in Health Service Psychology, focused on General Mental Health and Trauma. Dr. Richard then moved into a supervised staff role with the Phoenix VA in the General Mental Health Clinic. In 2022, Dr. Richard began working on the PTSD Clinical Team and co-coordinated the Military Sexual Trauma Clinic at the Phoenix VA.
Dr. Richard's professional interests include teaching and mentoring in professional psychology, trauma-informed psychotherapy, complex trauma treatment, gender- and sexuality-affirmative interventions, sex and kink positivity, sex therapy, cultural adaptation of evidence-based practices, therapeutic assessment and psychodiagnostic testing, LGBTQ+ workplace concerns, multicultural and social justice counseling, person-centered therapy approaches, and evidenced based therapies such as: Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, and Cognitive Behavioral Sex Therapy (CBST).
Dr. Richard has a passion for helping students learn psychology, build their own passions for helping others, and learn different perspectives of looking at the world.

While Dr. Richard is not primarily a researcher, they have interests in sex and kink positivity, career development, LGBTQ+ issues in the workplace, and supervision and mentoring in professional psychology.
