Julia Clarke is a first-year Ph.D. student in Geological Sciences at the ASU School of Earth and Space Exploration working under Professor Christy Till in the Experimental Petrology and Igneous Processes Center (EPIC). She conducts research in the fields of experimental petrology, volcanology, and geochemistry to understand subduction zone volcanism, particularly pressure-temperature magma storage conditions and eruption mechanisms at hazardous volcanoes in the Cascade range.
Julia is a graduate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with Bachelor of Science degrees in Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences and Chemistry, along with a minor in Biology. While at MIT, she conducted undergraduate research on paleozoic and mesozoic paleoclimate under Professor Kristin Bergmann. From 2021 to 2024, Julia worked in the environmental consulting industry with a focus in environmental due diligence, compliance, and remediation.
