Dr. Bailey is a former Googler and volcanologist. Previously a full-time researcher using satellites to monitor volcanoes (University of Alaska Fairbanks & Alaska Volcano Observatory), he was recruited by Google to be the Program Manager for Geo Education, working with the Earth, Earth Engine, Maps, Streetview and VR teams. After a decade away he returned to academia in a full-time teaching role at Gustavus Adolphus College (Mn.) before joining the ASU New College faculty in a similar capacity. He now focuses on teaching broad geology and environmental science courses that seek to educate as many students as possible about the forces and processes that shape and control our planet.
