Mrs. Qianru (Carol) Huang is a dedicated scholar with a passion for exploring the intersections of pop culture, political communication, mass communication, media psychology, computational social science, and public speaking. Her academic journey has taken her across continents, from her undergraduate and master's studies at Zhejiang University in China, where she excelled with top rankings and GPA scores, to her doctoral pursuits at Texas A&M University and Arizona State University in the United States.
Her research is characterized by its international scope and interdisciplinary approach, aiming to make a significant social impact. Raise up in Yiwu, a global comercial city, her skills in multiple languages and proficiency in various software tools reflect her commitment to a well-rounded and globally informed research practice. Her projects often involve collaborations with diverse communities and institutions, leveraging advanced methodologies such as sentiment analysis, thematic coding, and unsupervised image clustering to uncover insights into human-AI interactions, language barriers in social contexts, and the dynamics of online communities. Her work has been recognized through publications, conference presentations, and professional experiences, including her role as a research assistant at the University of Georgia and her contributions as peer reviwera to various academic conferences.
Qianru (Carol) Huang is currently dedicated to exploring eco/data-feminism and female enterpunership with issues of platformization in digital era. Her research delves into how eco/data-feminism can empower female entrepreneurs in the digital age, particularly in the context of platformization. She examines the ways in which data-driven platforms can both enable and constrain women's entrepreneurial endeavors. By analyzing the intersection of gender, technology, and business, Qianru aims to uncover the biases and opportunities within digital ecosystems. Her work seeks to advocate for more inclusive and sustainable business models that center women's voices and perspectives, ultimately fostering a more equitable digital economy.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Ms. Huang an active member of professional organizations (ICA, IAMCR, AEJMC, NCA) and has been involved in teaching and mentoring, sharing her knowledge and passion for communication and media studies. Besides, she was an social experienced media and documentary director, the doucumetray she shoot, Loading, gained over 100k Views and still visible, and the campaign she engaged with about Australian Airline and Airport is also fabulous to see. In addition, she is a semi-professional athlete who served in the univeristy's Baskerball team when she was an undergraduate student. After won a gold medal for her team, she turned to weight-lifting and tracks, where she is still the record holder of 400m (1:11) in her middle school. Since 2020, she started to play tennis and participated in the university league as a member of the school's tennis team for Zhejiang University. Qianru currently is keen to apply for the Ph.D. Communication and Journalism at Arizona State University, U.S.A with Academic Advisors: Professor Dr. Sarah J.
