Rubab Tunio is a 2026–27 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) from Pakistan, currently at Arizona State University, where she is building the university's Urdu language program from the ground up. She is the first person from her region to receive the Fulbright FLTA scholarship. Working under Dr. Souad T. Ali, Founding Chair of the School of International Letters and Cultures (SILC), she is developing curriculum and lesson plans designed to serve both heritage speakers and true beginners. She begins classroom teaching in Spring 2027.
Prior to her Fulbright placement, Rubab served as an English Subject Specialist (BS-17) with the Government of Sindh's School Education and Literacy Department in Naushahro Feroze, Pakistan, and previously worked as a writer in the corporate sector in Karachi. She holds a degree in English Literature from Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, where she graduated second in her class.
Rubab is a published poet with credits in several international anthologies, and her achievements as a writer include placing second in an international writing contest and winning numerous other writing competitions. She was also honored with the Story Icon award, recognizing her as having one of the most inspirational journeys. An experienced public speaker and debate competition winner, she has volunteered extensively with NGOs and INGOs, including Rotary. Her creative writing is rooted in rural Sindh, exploring themes of female experience and identity between worlds.
