Barton is a complex systems scientist who combines anthropology, archaeology, earth science, and information technologies to study long-term dynamics and interactions of people and landscapes in the Anthropocene.

Gall is a hazards geographer and studies how natural hazards and society interact. She utilizes geospatial analytics and disaster metrics (vulnerability indices, losses, etc.) to capture these interactions.

Yan's research interests include machine learning, data analytics for images, profiles and time series data for change detection and localization, and spatial-temporal analysis.

Tong's research primarily focuses on the use of spatial analytics including spatial optimization, geographic information system, and spatial statistics to support urban and regional studies concerning location.

Dr. Lu's research interests are climate change and adaptation, agricultural community engagement, disaster and risk management, and parks & protected areas. He integrates advanced quantitative methodologies in his research.
