Jennifer Miller

I design and teach courses that help students think critically, solve problems, build academic confidence, and navigate college successfully. My teaching and program-design work focuses on creating learning experiences that help students develop the skills, relationships, and confidence they need to persist and make meaningful progress toward their goals.

My professional interests include student success and persistence, learning experience and curriculum design, academic recovery, faculty development, and the thoughtful use of emerging technologies to support teaching and learning. Much of my work centers on students who may encounter barriers to persistence and on designing learning environments that make college easier to navigate without lowering learning expectations.

My scholarship examines how students experience and build support within higher education. My doctoral research explored how autistic first-year students develop academic and social support networks in college. I earned an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University, as well as a Master of Public Administration and a bachelor’s degree in English from ASU.

I have taught at ASU since 2012 and consider myself a lifelong Sun Devil. Outside the classroom, I am chronically curious, love board games, and can often be found working alongside at least one of my two cats.
