Long Bio
I work as the City of Phoenix Climate Program Manager implementing the Phoenix Climate Action Plan. This entails prioritizing and deploying policies and programs to aid in climate greenhouse gas emissions mitigation and climate change impact adaptation, including equitable environmental justice considerations. My undergraduate was a BA dual major in Biology, and Environmental Conservation: Climatology; later I earned an MSc from Duke University in Ecology. In 2017 I graduated from ASU's School of Public Affairs with a PhD in Public Administration and Policy. My dissertation, Examining Hazard Governance from a Complex Systems Perspective, focused on the role of extreme heat health risk reduction through use of cooling centers in the Maricopa County Heat Relief Network. Qualitative interviews of managers and organizers of the heat relief network as well as quantitative agent based modeling of the system were employed. I previously worked for nearly five years as a Senior Air Quality Planner for the Maricopa County Air Quality Department where my work focuses on emissions inventories and special projects related to air pollution emission reductions.
