Matt Denney is a Filipino-American Intimacy Director and Playwright. He is the co-founder of Consent Creatives of Arizona which works towards safer rehearsal rooms across Arizona. Matt has a broad range of experience, having worked at various theaters across the country as an Intimacy Director, Teaching Artist, and High School Theatre Educator. His work has been showcased at several notable institutions, including East West Players, Intimacy Directors and Coordinators, Intimacy Professionals Education Collective, Ottawa School of Theatre, the Center for Creative Photography, and the Shakespeare Theatre Company.
Additionally, Matt currently serves as the Theatre and Social Change Focus Group Representative for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education. Beyond his academic and artistic contributions, he has also served as a Grant Committee Member for the National Endowment for the Arts. Matt is the proud recipient of TheField NYC's Fiscal Sponsorship for Social Justice Practitioners and the Confluencecenter for Creative Inquiry for his work with community engagement and consent, highlighting his commitment to advancing social justice, wellness, and education through the arts.
