Jeff Kingsbury

Jeff Kingsbury is the Executive Director for Health Pathways in ASU Health, and Teaching Professor in the John Shufeldt School Medicine and Medical Engineering. Dr. Kingsbury also holds an affiliate teaching appointment in the The College of Health Solutions, and CISA's School of Applied Sciences and Arts. He received his bachelor's degree in biology, and his doctoral degree in medicine from the State University of New York. He has extensive experience as an educator in anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Dr. Kingsbury has a record of successful educational research, and service engagements related to advancing teaching and learning in healthcare education. As a member of the ASU faculty, he has taught Anatomy and Physiology (BIO 160 & BIO 202), Advanced Human Anatomy (BIO 475), and Historical and Contemporary Issues in Health (MED 300). Dr. Kingsbury has published and presented extensive research exploring science education and teaching effectiveness in his academic discipline. He has authored and co-authored several papers, text chapters and textbooks. He is an active member of the American Medical Association, the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS), and past member of the American Physiological Society (APS). He is a past past peer reviewer of physiology research funding for NASA, and a past consultant for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). He has held leadership roles in the teaching sections of APS and HAPS, and has served on several faculty advisory boards in professional organizations, and has served as a longtime member of the Arizona Articulation Task Force (ATF) in biological sciences, helping shape foundational science curriculum policy in higher education in Arizona. Dr. Kingsbury has leveraged those experiences into a long record of mentoring students to be successful in transitioning to medical school and other health professions programs. He has experience in university governance, and has served multiple terms as a University Senator, is a past chair of the Senate Committee on Committees, a past member of the faculty senate Executive Committee, and a past-president of the CISA College Assembly. He currently serves as a member of the faculty council of the John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering, and is involved in admissions and selection working groups of the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC).
