College of Global Futures
Bonnie Ervin has been associated with ASU since 1997 in a variety of capacities. She is a graduate of the ASU School of Social Work, earning both her BSW and MSW degrees with concentrations in Child Welfare and Planning, Administration and Community. Ms. Ervin began teaching for ASU in 2008 as adjunct faculty and has since held the positions of staff and student mentor in the Child Welfare Training Program, field liaison, field instructor, and instructor. In addition, she serves as the co-principal investigator on several innovative interprofessional research projects. Her work outside of academia spans all levels of practice from micro to macro and has been related to child welfare, positive youth development, prevention services and community engagement. Ms. Ervin’s interests are broad and include relational poverty, disrupting how we conceptualize and configure social safety nets, public interest technology and harnessing interprofessional collaborative practice to address societies grand challenges. As a change agent, Ms. Ervin has helped to shape community-imbedded experiential learning opportunities for students across disciplines and practice settings. She has threaded her passion for empowering vulnerable populations and educating students throughout her work culminating in the development of a service-learning course on Ending Homelessness. To stay centered, Ms. Ervin enjoys time outdoors, painting, writing, time with family and marathons of BattleBots.
