Anais Delilah Roque Antonetty has a Ph.D. in Environmental Social Science. As an interdisciplinary scholar, her research interests include water insecurity, community resilience, disaster recovery, environmental justice, energy governance, and social networks. Currently, Anais is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar with Future H20 leading the community-based participatory research with Colonia communities along the US-Mexico border. This project is part of a transdisciplinary NSF - Growing Convergence Research that seeks to support water equity in these Colonia communities. Before pursuing higher education, Anais worked with HUD in Puerto Rico developing strategies to assist residents in job obtainment as well as in community organizing. Additionally, she was a shelter administrator in the aftermath of Hurricane María which sighted her interest in disaster research. As an undergraduate student, she worked on different projects in the areas of environmental justice, policy, and community development. One of these projects was the interdisciplinary NSF project: Critical Resilient Interdependent Infrastructure Systems and Processes (CRISP-PR) where she worked with the energy governance team collecting data (i.e. stakeholder identification, interviews, and data analysis) to have a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities for a sustainable transition to renewable energy in the island. She obtained her BA in Political Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus, and became a climate-induced migrant due to the cascading effects of hurricane María in 2017.
