I serve as Arizona State University’s Capture Manager, leading institutional strategy for large-scale, complex funding opportunities across federal agencies and priority research domains.
My work focuses on early-stage positioning—engaging funders before solicitations are released, aligning internal strengths with external priorities, building interdisciplinary teams, and shaping initiatives that are competitive at scale. I partner with faculty, research leadership, and external collaborators to move ideas from concept to coordinated institutional strategy.
With more than 20 years of experience in research development, I bring a systems-level perspective to proposal strategy, team science, competitive intelligence, and institutional planning. Prior to establishing ASU’s first centralized Capture Manager role, I served as Senior Proposal Manager within the Research Development office, supporting submissions totaling more than $450M across NIH, NSF, DOE, NASA, DoD, USAID, and other sponsors.
My background includes over a decade in molecular and cell biology research, nine years in science education and professional development, and graduate training in organizational and leadership communication. This interdisciplinary foundation informs my approach to science communication, collaboration design, and long-range funding strategy.
Faculty seeking guidance on large-scale opportunity alignment, interdisciplinary teaming, or early-stage capture strategy are encouraged to reach out.

In addition to my institutional role, I provide advisory support through JQ Wickham Services and as a consultant with the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP). My consulting work focuses on strengthening institutional research development infrastructure, designing capture and opportunity pipeline frameworks, facilitating strategy workshops, and supporting emerging research institutions in building long-term competitiveness.
As a Board Member of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) Western Chapter, I serve as the Intentional Career Path (ICP) Lead, focused on strengthening and expanding pathways into the bid and proposal profession. My work centers on developing structured internship and mentorship models, aligning APMP micro-certifications with academic and early-career audiences, and collaborating with chapter leadership to formalize governance, reporting, and program sustainability. Through this role, I contribute to advancing professional standards, workforce development, and long-term capacity building within the proposal and capture management community.
