Long Bio
Nana Sakyiwa is a doctoral student in Sustainability. Her research interest revolves around resilience, collaborations, knowledge co-production, climate change, biodiversity, food sovereignty, and sustainability education. In her doctoral research, she seeks to illustrate the resilience of biocultural communities and landscapes amidst global climate crises by utilizing qualitative and quantitative data sets. She is also an avid evaluator and likes to design and analyze programs for their long-term viability. She is a trained culturally inclusive pedagogy curriculum designer and instructor and applies her skills in teaching at both high school and tertiary levels. She also supports programs and activities that engage children in ways that inculcate the culture of environmental stewardship and protection.
Prior to pursuing a Ph.D., she worked with organizations that worked alongside Indigenous Peoples and local communities globally to co-create robust solutions that improved their livelihoods and well-being while protecting their territories.
She volunteers on the ASU GPSA government assembly, Grace Kids, Paideia Academy, as well as the MIZE Family Foundation board. During her leisure time, Nana Sakyiwa likes to crochet, go for walks, or swim.
