Dr. Danny Kneer Professor Emeritus
W.P. Carer School of Business
Arizona State University
“Dr. Danny” is proud to be known as a “practical professor”, with his two proudest achievements being 1) the ASU Teacher of The Year and 2) earning a jacket-patch from the US Postal Inspector’s Bomb Investigation Unit (working a very hi-profile case).
From writing a national award-winning dissertation (Computer Security in Complex Networks) to a Lifetime Recognition Award for the Innovative Usage of Technology in Investigations…it’s been an honor to be a college professor.
Danny is proud that his work in advanced analytics and forensic computer crime lead to the American Bar Association recognizing his research as “the practical research that we sorely need”. He was the inaugural Associate Editor of the Journal of Information Systems and received both a British journal’s Award for Research Excellence and a Bronze Medal from an American journal.
Dr.D is a hands-on professor, to wit, he gave no final exams. Instead, he used Phoenix as a lab…his students obtained a (real) client, designed their computer security, and then attempted to hack it! He subsequently received awards for innovative teaching from two Arizona governors (both impeached). No future governors gave him awards.
Danny left ASU to found ,and become CEO, of a global advisory firm, servicing 20 of the Global Fortune Top 50. He was the Senior Curriculum Developed/Lead Instructor for KPMG's consulting practice.Danny has advised/trained major Federal and State agencies.
Eventually, Dr. D became a venture capitalist. He founded/bought/sold/flipped emerging businesses. He has coached teams for their Shark Tank pitches and super-funding presentations.
Dr. Danny is back at ASU, mentoring brilliant students in the Entrepreneurial & Innovation program (Incubator in Value Creation), The Center for Enterprise and New Business Design, Prototyping and Barrett Honors College (theses reader)., . He is a member of The SAS Institute Advanced Analytics Advisory Board and is an Advisor for the Arizona Dept of Education (Computer Network Security).
Dr. Danny remains a global key-note speaker, giving presentations at the Place de la Concorde and Madison Square Garden, and other fun venues.
Danny teaches golf to little kids (what a thrill) and volunteers at the Maricopa County Animal Control facility.
