Dr. Anwar is the Director of the Materials Undergraduate Laboratory and teaches several courses in the department. His areas of expertise are in different aspects of materials characterization. His primary research interests are in computational materials science.
He holds a B.A. in Physics and Economics from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., an M.S. in Physics and a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ.
Primary Research Topic:
To provide a theoretical basis for understanding the redox process of the anode catalyst at the atomic level by investigating the effect of dopant atoms in the ceria structure. Density Functional Theory (DFT) and Kinetic Lattice Monte Carlo (KLMC) method are being used for these calculations.
