Dr. Manis is an epidemiologist and interdisciplinary health services and policy researcher who has expertise in population-level and machine learning analytics; observational and quasi-experimental study designs; causal inference and econometrics; and mixed methods.
He primarily uses routinely collected health system administrative data (e.g., physician billing claims, clinical assessment data, etc.) that are linked at the level of the individual to examine health outcomes and quality of care to improve population health and health systems.
His research is published in high impact journals for health policy, geriatrics, and general medicine. He often serves as a reviewer for the National Institutes of Health, Center for Scientific Review, Health Services and Systems Branch, and he is an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association and the Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care.
