Sierra Monreal is an undergraduate student in Aerospace Engineering (Astronautics) at Arizona State University’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and Barrett, The Honors College. Her interests focus on space systems, advanced materials, and the intersection of engineering, policy, and public impact.
She has conducted research through the ASU NASA Space Grant Program and the Nanotechnology Collaborative Infrastructure-Southwest, where her work has focused on flexible perovskite solar cells and nanomaterials for space and high-power radio-frequency applications. Her research experience includes experimental testing, materials characterization, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
In Spring 2025, she completed and successfully defended an honors thesis titled “Investigation of Flexible Perovskite Solar Cells for Space Applications”. This work examined the performance and durability of flexible perovskite devices in space environments under the guidance of Dr. Nicholas Rolston.
In addition to research, she serves as President and Co-Founder of the Engineering Student Advocacy Association (ESA²), supporting student success and communication between engineering students and faculty. She works with SEMTE teaching faculty and the Learning and Teaching Hub to translate student feedback into actionable improvements that enhance learning outcomes.
