Dr. Zoë Baker is the Associate Director of Health and Clinical Research within the Office of the Vice President of Research at ASU Knowledge Enterprise. She has a passion for removing barriers to research productivity, improving scientific communication, supporting clinician researchers, and maternal and child health. Prior to joining ASU, Zoë oversaw clinical research within the Division of Urology at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, where she was responsible for growing the Division's clinical research portfolio. Her research work encompassed pediatric renal masses, assessment of imaging and diagnostic validity, and special patient populations including children with spina bifida, bladder exstrophy, and nephrolithiasis. Zoë also has experience working as an Epidemiologist for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, within the Office of Planning and Analysis, where she worked to evaluate healthcare utilization following the implementation of a Whole Person Care program.
Zoë has a PhD in Epidemiology and Master of Public Health degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). During her doctoral studies, Zoë was a member of UCLA's Behavioral Epidemiology Research Group, and focused on medication adherence among individuals at risk for and living with HIV in the United States and Brazil. As a Master's student, she worked as a research intern at Population Council in Nairobi, Kenya, to assess barriers to surgical treatment among women living with obstetric fistula, a complication that occurs due to prolonged, obstructed labor.
