Zhiqiang Liu is a novice pursuing a doctorate within the realm of the Comparative Culture and Language program at Arizona State University. Prior to matriculating at ASU, he completed his Master of Arts degree in translation studies at China Foreign Affairs University. During this phase, his research pursuits were predominantly anchored in the domain of Eileen Chang's self-translation. Upon his graduation from CFAU, Zhiqiang's scholarly interests underwent an evolution from conventional inter-text translation studies to the multifaceted domain of cross-media translation studies.
At present, Zhiqiang's scholarly focus is directed toward media anthropology, a field where his enthusiasm is discernible in the context of contemporary China and South Korea. His research is notably committed to delving into gender- and disability-related intricacies within the arena of ethnography, film, literary and translation studies. Moreover, Zhiqiang is diligently in search of innovative entry points and methodological approaches through which he can synthesize and syncretize his multifaceted research interests into a cohesive and academically substantive doctoral dissertation.
