Jason R. Weber is a nationally recognized leader in crime prevention, campus safety strategy, and community-oriented policing with more than three decades of experience in law enforcement, higher education, and public safety training
He currently serves as the Crime Prevention Programs Manager for the Arizona State University Police Department, where he leads comprehensive safety and prevention initiatives across ASU’s campuses in Arizona, California, Washington, D.C., and Bermuda.
At ASU, Jason oversees large-scale crime prevention and community engagement programs that support the safety of students, faculty, and staff in one of the largest public university systems in the United States. His work integrates Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), Situational Crime Prevention, Problem Oriented Policing, and Intelligence Led Policing into practical, campus-based strategies that reduce risk, address repeat criminal behavior, and strengthen institutional resilience. He works closely with patrol and investigative units to implement data-informed approaches that align prevention, enforcement, and community education.
Prior to joining ASU, Jason oversaw specialized public safety training for Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, planning and executing several hundred conferences, workshops, and training programs annually for thousands of public safety professionals. He also served 26 years with the Fox Crossing (WI) Police Department in roles including patrol officer, detective, field training officer, evidence technician, and community liaison officer. During that time, he implemented intelligence-led policing systems, developed chronic nuisance abatement strategies adopted by other communities, and served as a media spokesperson during significant and high-profile criminal cases.
Jason is a nationally sought-after instructor and presenter on topics including CPTED and security assessments, active threat mitigation, nuisance abatement, crisis communications, campus safety, and policing strategy. He has conducted more than 300 physical security assessments for corporations, schools, healthcare facilities, houses of worship, municipalities, and nonprofit organizations across the United States. His expertise has also led to service as a subject matter expert for national organizations on active threat preparedness, identity theft prevention, robbery response, and prescription drug abuse prevention.
An accomplished author, Jason has written extensively on modern crime prevention, intelligence-led policing, active threat mitigation, and security design. His recent publications include comprehensive guidebooks on CPTED, nuisance abatement, and applied crime prevention strategy. He also serves on the Secure Building Council, contributing to the development of the industry’s first national building security certification framework—an initiative designed to bring standardized, evidence-based safety criteria to property design and management.
Throughout his career, Jason has received numerous honors recognizing his leadership, innovation, and commitment to community safety, including Crime Prevention Practitioner of the Year, the Sir Robert Peel Award, and Civilian Supervisor of the Year at Arizona State University. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree with honors in Criminal Justice Administration from Bellevue University and an Associate Degree with honors in Criminal Justice from Fox Valley Technical College.
Jason’s work is grounded in a simple philosophy: safer communities are built through collaboration, education, and thoughtful design. By bridging research, policy, and frontline experience, he continues to advance national conversations on proactive crime prevention and the future of public safety in higher education and beyond.
