Dr. Samuel Edgeston had over two decades of experience in business leadership, organizational development, and academia. He had held various leadership roles at universities in Arizona and Tennessee. Dr. Edgeston had also been a Licensed Professional Coach-Counselor, a Board-Certified Business Coach, and a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Mediator. In addition to teaching, he had served as an executive, corporate, leadership, and business coach and consultant in Arizona.
Dr. Edgeston had supervised and trained professionals and graduate students in mediation, practice management, governance, leadership development, continuity planning, succession planning, and entrepreneurial thinking. He had been an ardent supporter of proactive development studies focusing on business, management, leadership, and organizational technology efficacy. Currently, Dr. Edgeston is advancing portfolio competence and engagement among current and future MBA-level practitioners to enhance competitive executive presence and positioning.
As part of his governing research, coaching, and consulting agenda, Dr. Edgeston had overseen and guided a portfolio of applied and scholarly projects focused on leadership, technology, continuity planning, and organizational performance. His governing research efforts had included Infrastructure Concepts and Strategies of Vending Operators Expanding in Entrepreneurial Markets and New Americans' Perceptions of Executive Leadership and Inclusiveness, through which he had mentored and supported analyses of emerging markets, entrepreneurial activity, and inclusive leadership. He had also governed work in cybersecurity and technology governance in Factors Influencing the Success of Offensive Security in Combating Cyber War, a focused group study on the lived experiences of Chief Information Security Officers in Western banking systems, and research on perceptions of policy, system and data security, and autonomous vehicles, including liability, threats, countermeasures, and legal perceptions.
His efforts in leadership and postsecondary education had included governing studies such as Leadership Perceptions of Postsecondary Technical Education Administrators and Descriptive Study – Business Culture and Business Performance Relationships for a National Technical Education Corporation, where he had supported investigations into how leadership and culture influenced institutional outcomes. He had also directed Succession Planning: A Critical Element of Business Continuity Strategy, engaging C-level and human resources executives on the design and implementation of continuity and succession plans, featured in a corporate college-hosted webinar.
Dr. Edgeston’s governed portfolio had included studies on performance, self-leadership, and mental health, such as A Phenomenological Study on Former Elite Athletes’ Use of Self-Leadership to Promote Positive Mental Health and an examination of differences in self-leadership scores between leaders reporting high and lower energy. In multicultural management and internal marketing, his governing research efforts had included Management in the Multicultural Environment: Differences Between Afro-centric and Western Management, The Effects of Internal Marketing on Service Quality: A Case Study of an Auto Title Loan Company, and an analysis of tire manufacturing workers’ perceptions of communication, feedback, and quality performance in Tennessee.
In business, finance, and consumer behavior, Dr. Edgeston had governed and supported examinations of eBay: Selling Formats, Sellers' Reputation, and Auctions' Outcome; predictors of student performance in dental school; the relationship between bank tellers’ leadership attributes and customer satisfaction; and a causal-comparative study on social media use by small fiber arts companies. His earlier governing research efforts, including Business Program Chairs' Perceptions of Followership Related to the Retention of Business Students, had reflected a sustained focus on leadership, followership, and student outcomes.
Across this body of work, Dr. Edgeston applies research, coaching, and consulting to improve organizational performance, strengthen continuity and leadership pipelines, and prepare MBA-level practitioners and executives to operate effectively in complex, technology-driven, and diverse business environment
