My name is Henry Freeman. I was born in New York, raised in Texas, and now call Georgia home. My move to Georgia was shaped by my years of service in the U.S. Army, where I gained invaluable skills and experiences that continue to guide my path today. At 39 years old, I have taken a journey to define the right career path, one influenced by my diverse background as an Army veteran, my ventures into the private security sector, and my commitment to community service.
Currently, I work as a Property Manager and Event Coordinator for a hospital satellite site, a role that demands strong organizational skills to ensure efficient operations. Before this, I spent seven years in private security, including a significant tenure as a site supervisor overseeing three locations. This experience was pivotal in honing my leadership abilities and strengthening my expertise in safety and security management.
Alongside my career, I volunteer as the Clerk and Social Media Manager for the Emergency Management Agency Volunteer Group (EMAVG) {www.emavg.org}, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to disaster preparedness and community resilience. My responsibilities include managing governance documents, coordinating volunteer recruitment efforts, and supporting community events. This work allows me to give back to my community and continue my service in a meaningful way.
Academically, my journey has been as varied as my career. I hold an Associate of Science in Computer Science, an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. While education was not always a personal priority, my desire to set an example for my children inspired me to embrace learning. Now, as a Master’s degree candidate in Emergency Management and Homeland Security, my ultimate goal is to earn a Ph.D. and become an adjunct professor, sharing my knowledge and experience to guide the next generation. Mentorship is deeply important to me, and I believe in the transformative power of helping others achieve their potential.
Family is the cornerstone of my life. I have been happily married for 16 years, and together we have three wonderful children aged 11, 13, and 15. Our family life is dynamic and active, particularly with my youngest child’s involvement in competitive cheerleading, which often takes us traveling. These shared moments create lasting memories and strengthen our bond as a family.
Looking to the future, I aspire to advance my education and eventually transition into a role with the Department of Homeland Security after my youngest child graduates. This ambition reflects my commitment to public service and my desire to contribute to the safety and resilience of our nation. I live by the philosophy that it is never too late to achieve your goals, and that doing the right thing brings lasting rewards. I look to the future with optimism, guided by my values and a steadfast commitment to my family, career, and volunteer service.
