Mark Stoda launched his professional career from the Air Force Academy, where he graduated with an engineering degree and an officer’s commission. After completing military pilot training, he was selected to serve in the cockpit of a T-38 Talon as a flight instructor, and in the classroom as an aeronautics and aircraft systems instructor. His military service then took him to Europe as an F-4 Phantom reconnaissance pilot, and as a war-planning advisor.
His foundational years in military aviation postured Stoda to closely observe those in positions of command, igniting his interest in leadership and influence. After receiving a master’s degree from San Diego State University, he completed his doctoral studies at Arizona State University. As an instructional faculty member in the Hugh Downs School, his courses focus on an array of practical communication applications, including relational development and conflict management, team dynamics and performance, organizational leadership and crisis management, persuasion and social influence, public speaking and business presentations, as well as research methods and critical analysis.
In addition to teaching in university settings, Stoda has worked as a personal development coach in the non-profit sector, provided services as a leadership development consultant in the construction industry, conducted on-site courses for corporate employees enrolled in degree programs, offered sales training for product marketing representatives, and facilitated courtroom advocacy workshops for attorneys. His speaking and writing efforts are fueled by a desire to equip influencers with the high-impact communication skills necessary for professional and personal success.
