Profiles in "Data Science" Expertise Area

  • Sterner uses methods from philosophy and social science to investigate how knowledge systems can better address wicked problems. His current projects focus on biodiversity data, modeling, governance, and philosophy.
  • Dr. Dina Ziganshina Lienhard received her PhD in Biology (Biology & Society) from ASU in 2023 and currently works as the Senior Program Manager at the School of Complex Adaptive Systems at ASU.
  • Watkins’ research focuses on the relationship between social vulnerability, individual experiences with extreme heat, and heat interventions. He also supports Arizona's Building Resilience Against Climate Effects efforts.
  • Daniels studies the logic of collective behavior in living systems, using real-world data to build predictive models at the scale of individual interactions, and abstracting away from these toward general principles.
  • Dr. Shutters fuses evolutionary ecology and economics to better understand complex social systems and to create evidence-based decision support tools for planners facing economic transformations.
  • Yan's research interests include machine learning, data analytics for images, profiles and time series data for change detection and localization, and spatial-temporal analysis.
  • Paul Horton is a Ph.D. student and NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Opportunity fellow in the Exploration Systems Design program. He develops data science analysis systems for planetary science and astronomy.
