Long Bio
Dr. Fred Miller is the Assistant Director for Student Outreach and Support with Barrett, The Honors College, guiding students in resolving educational, personal, and other campus impediments toward successful completion of their academic goals. His doctoral research examined the effectiveness of stress management interventions for high-achieving college students, growing from years of direct student support work, including wellness programming, in higher education.
He is a native Arizonan with experience across successful sales and IT careers, but always maintained a passion for higher education and student affairs. After leaving the IT field, Fred has worked with the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University in the admissions, financial aid, and student accounts departments, as well as most recently the Student Advocacy Coordinator with the Dean of Students Office at the West Campus.
Outside of the higher education arena, Fred continues to work with high-risk adolescent populations struggling with Social Anxiety and OCD in an IOP setting, as well as a Crisis Counselor with the Glendale Fire Department's Crisis Response Unit.
