Matthew Meier

Matt Meier received his B.A. from the University of Kansas and Psy.D. from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology. He is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology, Co-Director of Clinical Training for the Clinical Psychology PhD program, and Director of the MS in Addiction Psychology program. He a licensed psychologist and licensed independent substance abuse counselor, and provides training and supervision at ASU's Clinical Psychology Center, the community-based training clinic for the Psychology Department.  prior to his academic position, he provided clinical services, and later served as a clinical director, in inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment centers and outpatient community mental health centers. 

Meier leads the development and ongoing administrative and clinical supervision of a broad range of addiction-focused training programs. He oversees the treatment component of the ASU Alcohol Diversion program. He leads a HRSA-funded Graduate Psychology training program on integrated health and addiction treatment, through telehealth, focused on increasing access to psychological and addiction services in rural Arizona, with an emphasis on serving Indigenous communities. He is also developing an addiction telehealth practicum for MS Addiction Psychology students, also focused on increasing addiction services in rural Arizona and Indigenous communities. He is also the ASU lead community trainer for the NIDA Clinical Trials Network Southwest Node.
